If you played the original version prior to this remake, you'll already have a good understanding of certain of the key aspects of this Ladder system. It's offered in Classic, Hardcore Classic, Expansion or Hardcore Expansion variants with each of them having different rules on how many life players can enjoy and the types of content that are available.
"Each mode will have their specific leaderboard where players compete to gain experience through strategic planning within an enumeration period of time, while having access to content specific to the Ladder mode," Blizzard's announcement about the launch of their Ladder feature to Diablo II: Resurrected said. "When this Ladder season is over, the leaderboard rankings will be reset and characters will be switched to non-ladder modes and giving players the chance to play."
