In a recent statement EA Sports told IGN

We do not like to make comments on rumors or Mut 22 coins speculation, but we're determined to continue to improve Franchise as a aspect of our Madden NFL 22 live service and beyond. It includes two upcoming Franchise updates we'll be releasing in Madden NFL 22. We'll provide more details about the updates during the new year.

This announcement comes in response to a report from Sports Gamers Online that EA has made the decision to stop additional franchise mode updates for Madden 22. The report cited IGN's chat with Madden 22 chief producer Seann Graddy. Graddy claimed that this year's strategy is "slightly less ambitious than in years prior" due to the fact that the team is focused on a few key areas rather than trying to introduce games on the same scale as Superstar KO, a well-received arcade mode launched during Madden 20.

"I would suggest that [the roadmap is] likely to be smaller than the previous ones because we are really focused on a few elements that are the core of Madden 22 and also getting into Madden 23 in a big way," Graddy said at the time. "So I will stand by what we've always said during the last few years"We're a live-streaming service and we'll continue to update this game. However, we're not talking about a brand new mode."

The report was a source of attention in part because franchise mode is a source of cheap Madden nfl 22 coins irritation for some Madden fans. In fact, the roadmap originally came in response to the #fixmaddenfranchise campaign that circulated Twitter around mid-2020. The campaign was initiated following reports that EA wasn't planning improvements to franchise mode that year.
